PALS UTD Football Club

PALS Ltd is now the proud sponsor of PALS United (formerly Clack Utd). PALS Utd play in The Romford and District League, in the Senior Division. Captain Nicky Humphreys worked for PALS as a PA prior to qualifying as a secondary school teacher. They have been in the league final for the last four years, winning twice and coming in as runners up twice. We are hoping they will make it to the final again this season and bring us some silverware to display in our new premises.

PALS United became Senior Division League Cup winners after a close fought contest at Averley Football Club on Tuesday 23rd of April. The game started at an electrifying pace as PALS flew out of the blocks and began to press Cranes every time they were in possession, which led to numerous amounts of mistakes from the team in Red. The early pressure almost pulled off, when Michael Amao went clean through on the half hour mark, only to see his shot saved twice by the Cranes Goalkeeper. As the half grew Cranes become more comfortable on the ball and almost went ahead just before half time, when a free kick on the edge of the penalty area was excellently tipped over by PALS goalkeeper Nicky Cole. The first half finished with PALS the stronger of the two teams and went close with a header from Anton Bonner from a corner just before the break.

PALS Utd Cup Winning Goal

The second half started much the same as PALS continued to hassle and pressure Cranes at every opportunity, and the deadlock was finally broken just over the hour mark when an excellent through ball from Captain Nicky Humphreys released Michael Amao once again, and this time he made no mistake. He rounded the keeper with ease before tapping the ball into an empty net sending the PALS players and officials into raptures. The goal was coming and the patience of the PALS players paid off in the end. As time began to tick away, Cranes became dominant as they tried to push for the equaliser and with 2 minutes to go they thought they had done it. A ball to the far post found an unmarked Cranes player who tapped it in, only to see the linesman's flag raised on the other side. That proved to be the last kick of the game, as the referee blew his whistle which cemented PALS United's place as League Cup winners. The players made their way up the steps to collect their winner's medals followed by Captain Nicky Humphreys who lifted the Trophy in front of all the spectators and officials, which confirmed PALS United as 2012/2013 Senior Division Cup Winners.
